The team you call
when yours is full.
Standby Team is a Bucharest build partner for agencies and independent consultants. We build websites, platforms and the AI layer your clients are now asking for — under your name, not ours.
You are winning AI work you cannot build.
Every client asks about AI now. Saying no puts the account at risk. Saying yes means hiring someone you cannot afford to keep busy, or subcontracting to a stranger who disappears in week three.
Standby Team is the third option. Senior capacity you can switch on for one project or keep on retainer — with the same person answering every time.
Three things. Done properly.
No twelve-service menu. These are the three we can do better than you can hire for.
White-label development
Websites, online stores, platforms and mobile apps, delivered under your brand. WordPress through to modern stacks. This is what we have been doing since 2016, mostly for other people's clients.
OR RETAINED DAYS
The AI your client asked for
Support and sales agents, workflow automation, AI wired into the systems they already run. You sold it. We integrate it, configure it to their rules, and document it so your team can support it.
THEN FIXED PRICE
Capacity on retainer
A fixed number of senior hours each month, reserved for you. Spend them how you like: development, emergencies, maintenance, or a second opinion before you quote.
CANCEL WITH 30 DAYS NOTICE
The rules, before you ask.
These are the things every agency owner wants to know in the first call. Here they are, so we can skip to the interesting part.
The client stays yours.
We never go around you, before or after. NDA signed as standard, our name off every deliverable unless you want it on. We have worked this way for fourteen years.
One senior contact.
You brief the person who writes the code. Nobody translates it, nobody relays it, and nobody learns on your project. The estimate you get is the one we actually believe, which occasionally makes it the higher one.
Fixed scope, fixed price — or days.
Projects are quoted as a fixed number. Ongoing work is a fixed number of days a month. No hourly billing, because hourly billing rewards the wrong thing.
EU, not offshore.
Bucharest: your working hours, EU contracts, EU data, invoices in EUR or GBP. Close enough to get on a plane, far enough from London rates to be worth the call.
Live in a real business, not in a demo.
The AI products below are ones we work on together with Brandy Digital in the UK. Our part is the one that decides whether they last: integrated with what the client already runs, configured to their rules, and kept working afterwards. Buying an AI tool is easy. This is the part that isn't.
Bookings with money attached
A booking product that handles deposits and card payments. Our work was getting it to sit inside client sites that were never designed for it, and dealing with what happens when a payment half-succeeds on a Saturday night.
AI site builder
Generates a first-pass website from whatever a business already has online. We run it on real projects, then do the part it cannot: the layouts it gets wrong, the content nobody wrote, and the sign-off.
Listings and products into video
Turns listings and product photos into narrated marketing videos. The interesting problem is not the video: it is pulling a client's catalogue in cleanly when their data is messy, and doing it for hundreds of items without someone watching.
Reviews and inbox, handled
Handles review replies and routine customer email. Almost all of the real work is in the rules: which tone, which cases the agent is allowed to touch, and where the line sits that sends something to a person instead.
Built, shipped, still running.
Websites, platforms and apps delivered since 2016 — most of them white-label, for agencies and consultants who put their own name on the front.
A pizza chain in the UK — ordering, delivery and point of sale
Online ordering with card payments, delivery dispatch, a driver app, and a point of sale that runs in the browser on staff machines. Laravel and Next.js, with the mobile builds on Cordova and Capacitor.
Dakor.ro — our own online shop
An e-commerce platform selling electric scooters and electronics, with a service point in Bucharest. Not a client project: we own it and run it. Which is why we know what an online store costs after launch — payments that fail, stock that lies, returns, and the phone calls that come with all three.
Detailed walkthroughs and references available on request — including two UK agencies: one we have delivered for since 2012, the other since 2007 — both from before the company had its name. Both will take your call.
Fourteen years, and I have never once had to chase him. Stefan has built client sites for me and got the AI products in my catalogue running inside real businesses, which is the part that decides whether a client stays. He tells me when something is a bad idea before I have sold it, not after.
BRANDY DIGITAL, UNITED KINGDOM · PARTNER SINCE 2012
We have put a lot of work through Stefan over the years, under our own name, and it comes back finished. He tells us when a plan will not work before we take it to the client, which is worth more than the build itself.

Where our AI work actually sits.
Our AI work has been inside products built with partners, not products of our own. We are not hiding that — it is where these projects actually fail: on contact with a real business, real data, and staff who never asked for any of this. If you want something built from scratch, say so on the call and we will tell you straight whether we are the right people.
So here is the offer.
Tell us what your client needs. We build a working prototype of it in one week, at our cost, before you commit to anything and before any money changes hands. You show it to them. If it is not good enough, you have lost a week of our time and none of yours.
And when AI is not the answer, we say so.
It rarely pays off when the volume is small, when the process was never defined in the first place, when the data lives in one person's head, or when the real problem is sales rather than operations. You will hear that in the first call, and we will not invoice you for it.
Three reasons, all checkable.
Nineteen years, two agencies.
In an industry where supplier relationships die in eighteen months, the same two UK agencies have kept sending us work for over a decade each. Those are not testimonials we wrote ourselves — they are phone numbers we will give you.
Small on purpose.
A studio, not a body shop. The same senior person on every project, with people we have worked with for years brought in when the build needs more hands. Nothing is handed to someone who was not in the conversation, and we say so when we are full.
We build, we do not just advise.
Plenty of people will sell you an AI strategy deck. Fewer will open the codebase afterwards. We do the second part, which is where most of these projects actually fail.
The name always meant availability.
For a long time that meant answering when the site went down on a Sunday, or turning a build around by Tuesday because someone else had gone quiet.
It still means that. What changed is the ceiling. The constraint in this work was always hours — how much careful building one experienced person could get through in a week. AI moved that line, and it moved it a long way.
What it did not move is judgement: knowing what to build, what to refuse, and what will still be maintainable in three years. That part is not getting automated, and it is the part nineteen years buys you.
We have run bigger than we are now, and we are growing back deliberately rather than all at once. The practical consequence for you is that we will tell you when we are full instead of taking the work and letting it slip.
So: a small studio in Bucharest, ten years in, rebuilding around that. If we work together, you deal with us directly.
Then this page was not written for you — but the door is open.
Most of our work arrives through partners, so that is who this site talks to. We also take direct clients: businesses that would rather deal with the people building the thing than with a layer in between. The terms do not change — fixed price, one senior contact, and a straight no when AI is not the answer. Plenty of what we build has nothing to do with it.
Tell us what you have sold.
Send us the thing you have already promised someone. You get back a scope, a number and a date, usually within two working days. No discovery phase, no deck, and if we think the deadline is fantasy we will say that too.
